INTRODUCING EXCELSIS – A program of Illawarra Choral Society!
Are you aged 16–30 and love to sing? Or do you know a young person who does?
The Illawarra Choral Society (ICS) is delighted to introduce
EXCELSIS – our Young Adult Choral Development Program, created to inspire, encourage and nurture the next generation of choral singers in the Illawarra.
As we approach our 80th anniversary in 2027, we're celebrating our rich musical heritage while investing in the future of choral music.
What does Excelsis offer?
The opportunity to rehearse and perform magnificent choral works alongside experienced singers as part of the Illawarra Choral Society.
Additional coaching to develop vocal technique, musicianship, confidence and ensemble skills.
Opportunities to explore additional repertoire and performance opportunities, develop friendships and grow as a performer in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Heavily discounted membership fees for under 30s.
Excelsis is growing now, with its official launch forming part of our 80th anniversary celebrations in 2027.

The aim of the Illawarra Choral Society is to be a welcoming and inclusive community choir, consisting of choristers who are able to sing classical choral music in harmony.
Everyone is welcome to attend without the need for a preliminary audition.
New choristers will be assessed by the Musical Director during the first week of their attendance at rehearsals. This allows the Musical Director to listen to the new choristers while they sing with the choir as a whole.
This process allows the Musical Director to decide on the suitability of the chorister, either to sing as part of the choir, or in a particular voice part.

Yearly membership:
$310 (employed) $290 (not employed).
$30 for youth members (under 30yrs of age)
$200 to participate in rehearsals to perform in one concert
